Cinecittà Today

The 1980s saw a major upgrade of Cinecittà's facilities and equipment, including the building of Cinecittà Digital and the expanion of the studio's restoration capability.

In 1997 Cinecittà was privatized and the new-born Cinecittà Studios S.p.A., through a strong process of renewal and development, made of Cinecittà one of the greatest Film Studios in the world: there are four Production Centers (three in Italy and one in Morocco) providing a complete service for the whole cinematographic and audiovisual production cycle.

  • Four Studios, 22 soundstages, various backlots and Resident Locations.
  • Set construction within the Studios and on location.
  • Camera Rentals (digital or film) and Lighting and Grip equipment Rentals.
  • Preproduction and Production Services through Partner Companies (budgeting, recruiting, casting, location scouting, technical support for the production, transportation, accomodation, information and assistance on  “Tax Credit” incentives, etc.).
  • Post Production Services through the new company Cinecittà Digital Factory, created in 2009 as a spin-off  of Cinecittà Studios Post-Production Departments. CDF focused on digital, on major investments in state-of-the-art technologies and specifically on providing within the studios a complete Post-production  cycle (Chemical Laboratory, Digital Intermediate, DCP, Visual Effect, HD Mastering,  “Full-Service Sound”). All these features make Cinecittà Digital Factory unique in the European market.
